#lifegoals ?

Hello world. I am here once again, doing what I do the best.
In this post, I talk about this much hashtagged word 'Life Goals'.
I saw a post on Facebook where a girl was sitting on the rocks by the beach and doing yoga. Even that was a #lifegoal to some,
That post made me realise that I have to, absolutely have to and must write a post about it!
I mean seriously, this generation is going ape shit over #lifegoals, little realising what it means in actuality.
Every thing is an Frickin' Life Goal to them. This makes me laugh a times, while other times I am worried about the number of glass houses that would break when reality hits hard.

" Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality. The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. "

This is what I got when I googled 'Life Goals' and I agree with it.

Now if we read this and then see the following posts on social networking sites, what should we feel?

So in what light are we supposed to view these pictures as?
Do you mean to say that, having a room full of roses is a life goal? quitting your job early, and travelling the world makes sense? Partying all night, every night is all that you want to do? being a wannabe is what you have come into this world for? Having a closet full of clothes, shoe rack full of stilettos; many of which you haven't worn in years is cool?

First things first, DO NOT mistake your dreams, whims and fancies with life goals. We shouldn't be so enamoured by all that we see on the internet and consider it as a life goal. We have to first understand what goals really are, what truly is needed to fulfill those goals and how having unrealistic goals affects us!

You know your capabilities, shortcomings, assets, responsibilities therefore; accordingly you set a goal for yourself.

Set a realistic goal and accordingly set a time limit in which you want to achieve it.

To achieve your goal you need to labour and aim at being the best at what you do.

You must not at any cost, set your life goals looking at other people's lives.

Also, you must not let other people set a goal for you, simply because, they do not have to live by it
& work through it: You do!

You must not get bogged down by failures and must keep on reviewing the progress.

Do no set too many goals in one go! take it slow -  one by one.

and, because I am a firm believer in the law of attraction; do not set negative goals.

Even when you see people partying every night or shopping every second day. Travelling once in six months or owning fancy cars: do not forget to see the hard work they put in before reaping this harvest and living the luxury life! Know that nothing comes easy in life : you need to have patience and you have to pay for it in some way or the other, if you have not paid for it in the past, you will pay for it in the future. Usually all that people see \, is the part above the sea, whereas the most important part lies below it.

Also, we need to understand that, earning money is important however it is not the end all.
You aren't going into the grave with all that money of yours.

The real life goals are :

A life you touch, someone whom you inspire,
someone who inspires you, peace of mind,
love in your heart, the positive vibes you spread,
how much people enjoy your company,
having a great career, a passionate hobby to de-stress with,
falling in love after getting over all your cynicism,
being your confident self, being a master in what you do,
when people look up to you, they say they want to be like you,
laughing out loud, having your loved ones to share your happy moments with,
living your life on your own terms, doing your bit for the environment,
and most importantly,
Being able to fulfill your need without an element of greed.

Specially for all the girls out there, let us not just be smitten by what others are doing, the kind of life others presumably lead on social networking sites. Yes, follow fashion trends or set your own trend. Party hard, eat out, shop, do shots, date, click selfies, pose, pout all that you wish to do! But, make yourself educationally strong, focus on making a career for yourself, do what you love and do not compromise on your morals. Maintain your strength of character, listen to your conscience and most importantly, be that kind of woman who can win this world, with or without a man by her side. After all, what's a queen without a king? More Powerful!
You have to live your life, stand for yourself, pursue your dreams, passion, goals and be self sufficient. With a good man by your side you just get more strong and powerful and please give him the due he deserves [ even if you can open a jar; give it to him to open it. Doesn't mean you can't do it, just means that you want to give his big male ego a push :D :P ]

Feminism & its origins

Writing on an issue like this, I was really skeptical; not knowing how it would be perceived. But I felt that it is high time that we get into the depths of this frequently used term, ‘Feminism’. To understand any movement, it is only smart to get to know why and how it came into existence Let’s acknowledge the fact that from ages the fibers of patriarchy have been woven into the fabric of human consciousness and consciously or unconsciously we all fell prey to it. It was and sometimes is, male dominated, identified and centered. It got so deep rooted that even the most basic of rights were not made available to women and they were okay with not having the same. The list of some of those might shock you. It took a century for women to be able to hold property on the same terms as men, serve on a jury, to cast votes, apply for bank loan, become an accountant or a lawyer, report marital rape, get equal pay (which still is a long way from equal!), get a safe abortion or bu...

"O Stigma", why dost thou yet exist?

‘Social stigma  is the disapproval of, or   discrimination   against, a person based on apprehensible social characteristics the purpose of which is to distinguish them from other members of a society. Social stigmas are commonly related to  culture ,  gender ,  race , intelligence, sexual preference and health. ’ As Plato wrote in  The Laws , a dialogue on the ethics of government, ‘if anyone is caught committing sacrilege, if he be a slave or a stranger, let his offence be written on his face and his hands’. The word ‘Stigma’ finds its origins in a Greek word stig -, meaning to prick or to puncture, that means, a type of marking or a tattoo . Something that was cut or burned into the skin of criminals, slaves, or traitors in order to visibly identify them as morally polluted persons, in medieval times and even before. These individuals were to be avoided particularly in public places. Stigma may also be described as a label to ...

Sex Ed and its need to be included in the school curriculum.

I recall an interesting conversation I had a few months ago, on board the train, with an Italian teacher. We talked about the challenges that him and I faced in the classrooms. Amidst the imprudent reliance on the internet, extensive video gaming, excessive use of smartphones in classroom; there was one thing that left me aghast and speechless.  He mentioned that one of his student was in a juvenile rehabilitation centre, for attempted murder. I was shocked, beyond my wits. What follows, will both amuse and disturb you. The kid and his girlfriend were spending the night together. At that tender age, you're overwhelmed with a myriad of emotions. You feel excitement, nervousness, trying to seek intimacy. Too young, too silly to know what and how. To avoid being shamed by friends and family, you seek the help of the internet for guidance.  This was exactly what the kid did. Little knowing about the world of fetishes that exist on the internet, he thought that was the ...
